Better Late Than Never

Yeah, was going to do this Monday – and here it is Friday, so that may tell you what kind of week this has been 🙁 Between funerals, shut-down interstates, and dementia, let’s just say, I’m DONE. But since I was last here, this:

Shooting blind – not something I get to practice often. And we only had 6 to practice with, now that the big boomers are legal here (which at least 2 dogs here are NOT at all cool with).

In stitching news, first, an update on Dragonflies, which only saw progress during one night at IHOP – loads and loads of backstitching, and I’m STILL not done with this pink flower!

It doesn’t look that big of an area, until you start figuring out a path to catch ALL the petals… Jeez, I’m ready to do some blue!

My main project for the last 2 weeks was HAED World Tree, artwork by Jen Delyth. For some reason I can’t figure out, I absolutely rocked on this this time out. Granted, my rocking a HAED is still snail slow to some people I know, but the opposite corner of this took me unknown YEARS to complete. So I don’t know if stress stitching just works on this design, or what. But here it is now:

And a detail shot – see the straight line there at the bottom right in the black? That’s a page margin for Page 3; I did everything to the right, Page 4. That’s SMOKIN’ in my book!

Lots & lots of color changes in there, even if it doesn’t look like a lot. And lots of 310, too 🙂 It feels good to actually make progress on this one! I do wonder at the two bars of light color that you see at the top of the one swirl – that is charted and stitched in a light color, though I do not actually see 2 light bars on the original artwork. I may fix those next time out, if they keep bugging me…

So – the next item up on the stand is:

I can already tell you that I didn’t make it to IHOP this week, so the dragonflies haven’t seen progress as of yet – hopefully next week. So check in next time and see where I get on Desert – there WILL be a beaded RATTLESNAKE!!!!!! Until next time, Happy Stitching!

  1. oh you got so much done!! I feel thrown to the ground for my miserable stitching hours lately (hence miserable progress), great job!
I look forward to seeing the beaded snake, and hi five for reaching the blue in VD, it’s going to look so so good!

  2. I agree with you about those light bars, even in the overall look of it, they look out of place. I’d think a pattern typo? And I remember the crazy confetti in that piece, but I just love the crispness of the design. I hope I live long enough to see you finish it!

  3. Great progress! World Tree is looking amazing! I’m not a huge fan of snakes, but I bet I’ll cringe just a little bit less when I see a beaded one…

  4. So sorry for your loss {{hugs}}. I am glad you found some solace in your stitching though. The Dragonfly looks lovely and the colours in World Tree are stunning! Well done.
