Startapalooza the Last – an Update

Well, despite last week’s work week doing it’s best to kill me (the pain of my boss retiring is making itself felt widely. not just with me), I have managed to get some good things done the last couple of weeks. So to get right into it, I’ll start off with a Finish – at the rate I’ve started big things that last few weeks, who knows if this is the ONLY thing I’ll finish this year:

Mill Hill Believe Bead & Button kit - completed on 2/5/15, framed in a Mill Hill frame.

Finished, and immediately put up with the other Christmas stitching, so I’ll see it again Thanksgiving weekend 🙂

I think when I left the last update, I was getting ready to start Joan Elliott’s Autumn Fairy; I picked one of the fabrics from my Stephanie’s FOTM, Melody, and in just a hair under 2 weeks, I made excellent progress on her. I’ve got some backstitching in, some metallics – the beads will wait until the stitching is done, since they don’t take too long on these. I took a longer shot and didn’t crop it down too far, so hopefully you get an idea of the colors in the fabric:

Yesterday, I got out the last of my Startapalooza projects, Monet’s Water Lilies from Scarlet Quince. I’ve put this on 20ct aida, hoping it’ll give me a smidge more room to maneuver; so far, I can’t tell much difference from the 22ct L&U is on. What I CAN tell is, this design is not nearly so complicated! I did in an evening what took me a week or more on L&U 🙂 Of course, I had to look up the picture a couple of time, trying to figure out what all these yellows & tans were doing in a picture that’s all purple & green – but here it is after a few hours’ work:

That’s the news for the last couple of weeks. I will continue on Water Lilies for at least this week, maybe on into next, and then, I will start the timed rotation through all the OTHER WIPs. I plan to start with things that didn’t get touched last year – World Tree, EGS, to name a couple. I’m thinking that, since work is nothing but chaos these days, having some kind of schedule to these will help me make inroads on the next round of old timers in the pile 🙂 On that note, Happy Stitching to everyone!

  1. Really like the Mill Hill finish. And your Autumn fairy looks great already. You’re crazy for starting the Monet, but who am I to talk.

  2. first and foremost, HAPPY DANCE for BELIEVE!! I know how long it took to see the end of it, and it was really worth it. great job!
and what a great start on the JE fairy, you got so much done!
I’m glad the waterlilies are coming along way faster than expected, that’s always nice – and I look forward to seeing your progress on this next week.
sorry to read about work being pure mess. I hope it slowly mends itself 🙂

  3. Beautiful finish on Believe – the beads really add some bling! Autumn Fairy is lovely and I’m looking forward to see Water Lilies growing! Yes, I too find that stitching is centering and calming in a mad, mad world. Happy stitching and I hope work calms down soon!
