A Post-Flurry Update

Yes, there was a flurry on Saturday. For like a minute. With maybe 3 flakes. Though I heard it was actually coming down visibly a couple of miles north of us. Meh, whatever. Better than Wednesday night when the cold front came through and we had 50 mph+ gusts all night; I didn’t sleep a wink until about 4:30 a.m., as I was fully expecting a tree to come crashing through the roof at any minute (or a train to crash through, from the sound of it), if the straight-line winds we had didn’t just rip the roof clean off 🙁 It was blowing so hard, we didn’t even have much debris in the yard or on the roof – it all got blown somewhere else; it reminds me of the big storm I slept through in the UK in 1987 that stripped Rendelsham Forest outside Woody Base to toothpicks. It’s what’s becoming the typical winter in N. Georgia – wait an hour, the weather will change drastically. But that’s what you get since it’s all run by computers these days…So, because it’s “winter”, Sunday dinner was soup – since I don’t follow football nor do Super Bowl parties, it was a normal Sunday for me, while DH went across the street to watch the Throwball game’s first half.

So, when I wasn’t working, shivering, or ducking & covering last week, I did some stitching 🙂 The first part of the week, I finished up that section of Growth Rings with the pink motif at the top:

At lunch a couple of days, and then at IHOP on Thursday night, I kept on with PS Knock! Knock! (Desert Star is sitting on the hearth at the moment – while I want to get it done for the next one in line, I also am not in a hurry to finish it) and now have Jack o’Lanterns, a ghost with  his goodie bucket, and a moon:

And then, for the 2nd half of the week, I worked on Iris Fairy, and got two more irises added to it, as well as a small start on her dress:

Kind of a nice mix of stuff last week 🙂 This week, I will keep Iris out long enough to finish the last 2 wings, I think; I may go a bit further, I may not. L&U is ready to come out again, so whenever I’m ready to stop one for the other, I will. I would like to get a few more stitches in at lunch on Knock this week, too, if possible, if I have time – it’s calmed down a bit, and I have patch testing to do this week, so hopefully my lunch won’t be interrupted by non-emergency emergencies… Knock is proving easy to work on at IHOP, even without aid of my Ott light, so that’s a plus – Who’s There is the 2nd in the series to go with, so it’s nice to have a couple of quickies, though Desert Sand Sampler might get stuck in between them in the travel bag 🙂 And THEN the By the Bay pieces can finally go into the bag, after 2 years promising them 🙂 On that note, Happy Stitching this week to everyone!
