And Now for Something Completely Different

A stitching update! Because there has been some since last I posted, though as it’s been a while, I am not sure I have all of it “on film”. I think when I last posted, I was working on Desert Mandala; I enjoyed it so much when I had it out, I completed 2 parts, 6 & 7, and now have all 4 critter corners and all 4 landscape panels done. It’s big enough now to be hard to get decent photos of it. Here it is overall:

Chatelaine’s Desert Landscape Mandala, on 28ct Desert Sky from Silkweaver, using some of the called-for threads and others converted to HDF.
Part 6 – beaded scorpion, of course 🙂 And Window Rock.
Part 7 – Roadrunner, no coyote chasing him and no ACME products in sight 🙂 And Saguaro.

I needed a little change of pace when I put Desert away, so I went stash diving, and came up with an AAN kit to be done in only beads, from a fall Just Cross Stitch magazine – Pumpkins. When we did a road trip up to Panda’s Crossing last time, I kitted this up in orange beads, and found a cool piece of fabric, jobelan in Dense Fog – really like this color! I almost got this completed before I needed to put it up:

AAN Pumpkin from JCS, on 28ct Dense Fog, using 4 colors on 11/0 beads. Almost done. MUCH shinier in person, of course 🙂

I also made a bit of progress on my Halloween Resurrection piece at the June & July PINS get-togethers:

I put the pumpkin away due to some medications I am currently taking (chemo – a story for another day) that are affecting my vision, so I pulled out a counted canvas kit that my friend Liz de-stashed, and have been working on it as I am able, because it’s easier to see, less brain intensive. It’s fun so far, but I can’t get the colors of the lighter thread to show up in a photo at all – there are very pale green, blue, and pinks in there – Caron Sandstone. Here’s the first quarter of Terracotta Celtic Knot Quilt by From Nancy’s Needle:

That’s the stitching news for the summer. We will see what the fall brings… Until next time, Happy Stitching!

  1. Oooo, late to the party, I know, but Desert Mandala looks fabulous! It’s been a while since I’ve since an AAN, and your colours are gorgeous. I am sorry you’re not feeling so well and hope, by now, you feel you have improved – I love the Celtic Knot Quilt! Here’s hoping Opie is not quick enough to catch the hummingbirds. xxx
