The Calendar Says Spring – an Update

And in what is becoming typical spring weather, we’re all over the map – 70s and 40s for highs, 30 minutes of sun for every 12 hours of overcast & rain. We have multiple opportunities for thunderstorms this week; it’s going to be warm, so I assume no thunderSNOW in the forecast. All of the trees are in bloom, as are the forsythia – but I haven’t been outside with my camera, because it is always raining when I am home and awake. And as it is also pollen season, I will try to not whinge about the rain too much, as it’s about the only thing that makes April tolerable for Kid the Younger. So in lieu of new pictures, here’s one from last year:

In stitching news, I made my goal of finishing Part 6 of Tuscany, along with the bargello from Part 11; this thing is ginormous already, and I’ve only got it half done! But the next 4 parts – the buildings – will go pretty quick, compared to 4 & 5, and 11 & 12 🙂 Here is the overall – I won’t give you the detail shot, since it looks exactly like the last update’s detail 🙂

I also made good progress on my travel project, with 2 nights at IHOP and one hour-long conference call. Will I get it done before graduation (and by done, I mean framed, too)? Dunno. If not, I know where the band director can be found later…

And since I finished Tuscany yesterday afternoon, I broke out Ye Olde Project Randomizer, and came up with this for my next rotation:

Project Randomizer says.... EGS!
Project Randomizer says…. EGS!

So I got it out & set up last night, and did a whole lot of 3363 – can you spot it?

Granted, I didn’t get too far, since I was too busy watching THIS:

That’s the news! Today, my Kid the Bigger is 22! Of course, he’s not here at the moment, but we may not let that prevent us breaking out the ice cream cake later 🙂 So, at some point tonight, I’ll sit down to EGS again, and hope to have the Fountain scene DONE when next you see it 🙂 Or damn close, anyway… Happy stitching to everyone!

  1. Congrats on finishing part 6! And I know just how huge it is! That will be a nice present for the band leader too. Happy 22 nd birthday! We got snow today, so I don’t want to here about blooming trees! Can’t come soon enough…….

  2. Stitching looks amazing!! Love all, but especially English Garden. I’d forgotten about this one. I know what you mean about the weather..pretty much has been cruddy most of the time with a few good days thrown in. Come on Spring! Happy Birthday to the Bigger Kid!

  3. wow, the Tuscany mandala looks stunning. it’s so neat, with all the sections coming to life. I still remember when you started, the turquoise sections, the four old bridges (Ponte Vecchio) over 1, the Bargello water, .. and now I learn you’re only halfway through? goodness, I wonder what’s coming up next. 🙂
I love ye olde project randomiser, if I was able to follow that kind of instruction I would make one myself.
EGS is looking better than ever, you have to finish that section now because I’m really looking forward to seeing it – how is that for encouragement? 😛
Buon Compleanno to the big kid. speaking of spring and ice-cream, the magnolia is about to bloom, the hyacinths have all come out weeks ago, and last Sunday we had the first gelato of the season. there has been a weird frost in April last year so I cannot count myself done yet, but these are pretty darn good signs that the warm weather is getting official. you know I’m not a summer girl really, but this year I might enjoy it more than ever. that’s why the flowers actually – I’m trying to overcome my hate for hot weather by growing something good to look at while sweating like a sinner in church. fingers crossed!

  4. Tuscany looks amazing. I can’t wait to see progress on EGS, but I know that mine will want to come out and play too..

We’re having crazy temperature variances too, but thankfully we don’t get pollen the way y’all do

  5. Wow – Tuscany looks beautiful and the muted colours on EGS are lovely too! Congrats to Big Kid and I hope you enjoyed the ice cream cake!

  6. I am always looking for new stitching blogs for my own inspiration and I came across yours. I love the mandala–so intricate and involved. And Theresa Wentzler designs are always somewhat challenging–you have done quite a bit but of course I have not seen it before.

    Happy stitching!

  7. I love both of the pieces you are working on. AND I love the idea of a project randomizer- how do you work that and I might actually get some of my ufos back to being wips that way.

    1. I just printed out a page with each of my WIPs on it, cut them apart, and found something to put them in. The container I used is actually a little tin that had meat rub in it, that I kept with the intention of putting a small piece of needlework on – works just as well for my Project Randomizer! Every two weeks, I pull another name of a WIP out, though I have had to put a few back, as I seem to keep pulling out one of things I just started instead of the older ones.
